At BSBA, God is in everything:
Reading: StoryTown, an exciting research-based reading and language arts program by Harcourt School Publishers is used. With different types of learners in mind, teachers instruct in small reading groups as well as whole class activities. Your child will become excited about reading, as he/she develops phonetic decoding skills and high-frequency word reading. Challenging leveled readers, poetry and a variety of games and activities will keep your child motivated. Parents find StoryTown's on-line site a great place for their child to share the thrill of reading at home.
Creative writing: Our kindergarten students learn proper handwriting strokes, line placement, and spacing. Students are encouraged to use these handwriting skills, along with punctuation and beginning phonemic spelling, to write in journals and create stories.
Science: Using twenty-four "Science Weekly" lessons, students learn core skills in a fun and engaging way. They enjoy exploring the colorful magazines and participating in experiments that accompany each lesson.
Social Studies: Through art, books, poetry, crafts and field trips, students explore ten exciting themed units relevant to young children.
Math: A variety of manipulative and hands-on activities are used to teach skills such as counting, numerals, addition, subtraction, time, money, measurements, graphing, and algebraic thinking. Students also apply that knowledge in ABeka workbooks.
Bible:Children enjoy Bible time daily and attend Elementary Chapel weekly. Students hear stories and learn verses that help them discover God's love and His plan for their daily lives. Teachers integrate Bible teachings into each subject daily.
Music, P.E., Computer, Spanish, Art and Media classes are also enjoyed by our kindergarten students.
