It is difficult to overstate the importance of a strong foundation in reading. Our experienced Jr. Kindergarten teachers use an assortment of exciting, research-based reading and language arts curriculum. They will instruct students individually, in small groups, and whole class activities in order to meet each child's needs. Your child will become motivated and confident as their pre-reading skills are strengthened.
Using Handwriting Without Tears, our Jr. Kindergarten students learn proper handwriting strokes, line placement, and spacing. Students are encouraged to use these skills, along with beginning phonemic spelling, to discover the joy of writing.
As we engage in a wide variety of science lessons throughout the year, children will learn that God created man and designed the world we live in. Topics including insects, plants, weather and space are explored through books and hands on experiences.
Learning to listen, following directions and sharing are some of the social skills that will be encouraged in Jr. Kindergarten. Children will be taught to respect others, show kindness, and exercise self-control. These skills are the basis of being a successful student and a lifelong learner.
A variety of manipulative and hands-on activities are used to teach math skills such as counting, numerals, simple addition and subtraction, time, money, measurements, and graphing. Students are also given opportunities to develop their problem solving skills.
Children enjoy learning from the Bible daily. Students hear stories and learn verses that help them discover God's love and His plan for their daily lives. They will learn to praise the Lord through song and creative movement. Teachers integrate Bible teachings into each subject daily.
Our playground is a safe and fun place to make friends and exercise. Large and small motor skills develop while children climb, run, and play.
